Instructions for placing a phone call to your legislators

The Governor and state legislators create transit policy and set budget levels.
They need to hear that you oppose fare increases and service cuts to transit.

To contact the Governor: call his office at 651-296-3391.

To contact your state legislator: call 651-296-2146. Tell your address to the operator and you will be given your legislator's contact information.

When placing the calls:Identify yourself as a constituent and use the message below as a guide or say your own personal message.

Suggested message:

Hello my name is ______. My address is ______.

Please do not allow a reduction in our bus service again. I strongly oppose transit fare increases and service cuts.

I need the service because....(explain why).

You should invest in our transit system because it is key to the health and quality of life of people who live in the Twin Cities region.

As your constituent, I also urge you to support the Transportation Choices 2020 initiative because it is the only legislative proposal that gives the metro area an extra $300 million dollars a year to build the transit system this region deserves by the year 2020. It also gives transit a reliable source of funding and prevents fare increases and service cuts this year.
