On the Way Maps that Help You Find Your Way... to the Future! Transit for Livable Communities has released two new project maps. Transit for Livable Communities’ “Minneapolis-St. Paul Transitways 2020” map is a vision for the future: a region-wide transit system to be completed by 2020. Transit for Livable Communities also completed a project map for its Bike/Walk Twin Cities initiative: this map is a Google Map highlighting every new walking and biking corridor in Minneapolis funded with Bike/Walk Twin Cities’ federal grant money, plus the corridors where surveys and research have laid the groundwork for future projects. “Maps like this are an excellent way to help turn a dream into a reality because they spark the imagination and provide something tangible to work towards,” said Lea Schuster, TLC’s Executive Director. The ”Minneapolis-St. Paul Transitways 2020” map shows ten different transitways (e.g. light rail, commuter rail, or express buses) in the Twin Cities metro area, including the already-completed Hiawatha The map created for the Bike/Walk Twin Cities initiative shows over 36 miles of new biking and walking corridors funded through BWTC federal grants, more than doubling the dedicated lanes for bicyclists and walkers in Minneapolis. These lanes are in addition to the handful of planning and research projects funded with federal BWTC grant money as well.
