Upcoming Events May 2008 May 11, 2008. Annual Community Gardens
CYCLEbration. Can changing the way we eat really help cut climate change? Yes! Every
time we buy corporate food trucked thousands of miles or burn oil driving
to Walmart, we feed the insane system of industrial agriculture that's a
leading cause of greenhouse gas pollution and global warming. But with
simple steps such as supporting local sustainable farmers, growing more of
our own food, and riding bikes, we can eat and feel better, build healthy
carbon-rich soil and cleaner air, and slash the food miles cooking Earth's
climate! Join the Community Gardens CYCLEbration! On May 11 nationally (or
another day in your community) organize a free bicycle tour of local
organic farms and gardens. Use the artwork at http://cyclebration.wordpress.com to publicize your event. Encourage
community members to grow your local food revolution by sharing land,
labor, seeds and nowledge. End the ride with a community potluck, film
screening, or discussion. Be creative and have fun! May 13, 2008. Central Corridor Public Meeting in St. Paul. Hear a presentation, review proposed drawings of the street design, including on-street

May 29, 2008. Central Corridor Public Hearings. State law provides a local approval process for light rail transit preliminary design plans that requires several public hearings by different agencies. Preliminary design plans are defined as general dimensions and location of the alignment including approximate station locations and a plan for disability access. At least 30 days after preliminary design plans are submitted to the cities and counties along an alignment, MnDOT and the railroad authorities are required to have a public hearing on the plans. Plans are expected to be submitted to the cities and counties by April 28. The law gives cities and counties 45 days after the MnDOT/Railroad Authority hearing to either approve or disapprove the preliminary design plans. Hearings will take place Thursday, May 29, 2008 at: St. Paul: Goodwill/Easter Seals, 553 Fairview Ave. N. An open house will be held at 4:00pm, followed by the Public Hearing from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
