Election season is here! Are you ready? We encourage all Minnesotans to take this opportunity to learn more about key issues and candidates and to register to vote.

There are abundant resources online to register to vote and it is easy to do in person as well. The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office has all the information you need. You can register online in about two minutes. You can also find a sample ballot to help you do research ahead of time, and read up on what to expect come Election Day.  Don’t delay—the last day to register in advance is October 18. Minnesota voters who miss that deadline can register right at their polling places on Election Day too.

Get Informed

Many people are looking for ways to learn more about candidates and go beyond TV ads or campaign mailings. Local, non-partisan debates and candidate forums are great ways to get in depth on elections. You can get beyond sound bites on many issues and sometimes you can even ask your own question about the issues that matter most to you. The League of Women Voters sponsors local non-partisan candidate forums all over Minnesota.

Vote On or Before November 8

This year’s Election Day falls on Tuesday, November 8. Many Minnesotans will cast their vote at the polls that day.

Changes in our election laws also have made early voting a lot easier. That’s great for busy people who find making it to the polls on Election Day tricky. It is easy to do and you don’t need a special reason. Just sign up and a ballot with simple instructions will be mailed to you. You can also vote early in person—find a location near you.

However you vote, thanks for making your voice heard this election season!
