Transit Partners

TLC facilitates and leads Transit Partners, an alliance of diverse organizations that have joined together to support the Transportation Choices 2020 vision for a 21st century, region-wide transit system.

Successes.

In January 2010, TLC and Transit Partners hosted the first ever Governor's Candidate Forum focused on transportation, land use and the environment. Not only were three parties represented, more than 500 people attended the event.

Transit Partners also played a key role in preventing fare hikes and service cuts since the early 200's during hearings at the State Capitol and the Vote Yes campaign (2006).

In 2008, Transit partners successfully advocated for new funding for transit --a 1/4-cent sales tax (in five metro counties) dedicated solely to building and maintaining light rail, commuter rail, and express bus lanes. This was a great start, but it alone will not build Transportation Choices 2020.
