This summer, we are happy to welcome two summer interns from Saint Paul’s Right Track program, Jordyn Mitchell and Ramla Warsamee. They will be working with Andrea Kiepe, our Community Organizer, on outreach along the Riverview Corridor. We asked Jordyn and Ramla to introduce themselves—read on.
“I live in St. Paul off of West 7th and Davern. My favorite thing about my community is the diversity. You will usually see a good mix of all races where I live. My favorite thing in general is cooking and I have a big passion for animals. I have two cats myself. I’m involved in a program called Right Track, which helps to get young people experience in the work force and in a business environment. This is my first year doing an internship and I am learning a lot and enjoying it so far. I am hoping to learn what a business setting is like and to be able to take some tools with with me at the end of my internship that will help me in the future. Going to and from work I take a bus and a train. When I’m off of work I know the bus and train are options but sometimes my mother drives me or I get rides from my friends.”
“This summer I have been lucky enough to be part of Right Track and was matched up with an internship at Transit for Livable Communities. Through this internship, I would like to be more knowledgeable about the issues facing the community and to be involved in advocating for more convenient and accessible transportation for all. I’m also excited to be engaging and reaching out to community members, and to be listening to their ideas and concerns. I’ve recently started taking public transportation to get to and from work, and it has been a great adventure so far. I moved to St. Paul few years ago, and now live in a nice neighborhood on West 7th and Maynard Drive. In my free time I like to read, bake, or walk to the nearest bookstore.”
Thank you Jordyn and Ramla!
