A transportation system is a region’s circulatory system—and transit lines are the arteries. Each transit line creates a healthier transportation system, making it easier for all Minnesotans to reach their destinations. We have made great strides in securing steady funding for transit, yet Minnesota’s transit funding is still largely haphazard. Transit for Livable Communities continues to work to make transit funding a priority, ensuring that Minnesota’s transit system grows along with the state. 
“What attracts people most, it would appear, is other people,” says famed author William H. Whyte. Streets are for everyone, including bicyclists and pedestrians. Transit for Livable Communities works hard to make Minnesota’s streets and sidewalks safe for bicyclists and pedestrians, partnering with advocates, policymakers, and elected officials to advocate for innovative policy and planning changes. 
Development should serve communities. Transit for Livable Communities supports transit-oriented developments that are planned and designed to build a strong sense of community. Residents know the needs of their neighborhoods better than anyone, so we also work to ensure that resident's voices are heard in the development process.
