Our Work
Transit TLC works to make transit funding a priority, ensuring that Minnesota’s transit system grows along with the state. We advocate for more bus service and more transit lines so that more residents have practical access to transit. Right now in the Metro region, 75% of people do not live within practical reach of bus or rail lines. In greater Minnesota, bus and rail access is even less available. Each transit line creates a healthier transportation system, making it easier for all Minnesotans to get from point A to point B.
TLC works hard to make Minnesota’s streets and sidewalks safe for bicyclists and pedestrians by partnering with advocates, policymakers, and elected officials to advocate for innovative policy and planning changes. TLC also administers the federal non-motorized transportation pilot program, known as Bike Walk Twin Cities, in Minneapolis and surrounding communities. Transit Oriented Development "It's pretty clear that housing and transportation decisions affect each other, and that the best projects build that relationship into their planning." Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood. TLC supports transit-oriented developments designed to build a strong sense of community. Development should serve communities. Residents know the needs of their neighborhoods better than anyone, and TLC works to ensure that residents' voices are heard in the development process.
