Being a TLC Member
TLC’s members and volunteers make change possible! With your help and the help of partner organizations, we successfully advocated for funding to build the METRO Blue Line (the first light rail line in the Twin Cities!), won two dedicated funding sources for state and regional transit, successfully got a Complete Streets law passed, documented significant increases in bicycling and walking in the Twin Cities, and changed the metro region’s transportation goals for the better. Together, we continue to push for expanded bus and rail options and safe routes for bicycling and walking.
Right now, our members are connecting at events, weighing in on plans for bikeways and bus service, reaching out to state and local decision makers, and talking transportation with commuters and others in their communities. There are many ways to be involved. Join us!
Ongoing Events Series
Transportation on Tap
Now in its fourth year, TLC’s Transportation on Tap happy hour event series brings our members, allies, and friends together for a lively, social conversation about transportation and related issues. Meet us in locations around the metro every other month to talk bike, walk, bus, and rail and enjoy light food on us. We promise to keep things interesting with a new topic and a new featured panel at every event. In the past we’ve explored car-free/car-light living, the economics of bicycling, and the next wave of transit in the Twin Cities, and we’ve connected the dots between transportation and food access, climate change, urban development, and more.
Made available by Transit for Livable Communities, this series features monthly webinars from the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP). Perfect for advocates, city staff, and transportation professionals alike, each presentation provides concise, thorough information on current best practices in bike/ped planning, design, and policy. Webinars and discussion are hosted at our office at no charge to attendees. Light refreshments are provided.
